I think it’s also a meeting problem: “The real problem of humanity is the following: we have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and god-like technology.” And so it goes with meetings. It’s why businesses sponsor meetings. All meeting design needs to recognize this reality.

Support the bottom — a Thanksgiving reminder

The manufacturer suggests we shouldn’t take for granted the strength of the thick aluminum foil holding our main course. There have been many times when I’ve been understandably silent/disengaged/distracted during meetings, and I’m sure everyone else has too. I have no other excuse. Support the bottom. It makes sense.

What I wear for running

Pre-pandemic, I traveled fairly frequently for my work as a consultant on meeting design and facilitator of meetings, and would try to run a couple of miles every day, wherever I was. I have extremely wide feet (5E or 6E or XX, depending on manufacturer). I see one or two cars a day, and two or three pedestrians a year.
