The picturesque island of Serifos welcomes the first sustainable boutique hotel NŌSTOS

Nōstos Boutique Hotel is a 17-room property located within easy reach from one the island’s most beautiful beaches – Livadakia.

Imagine crystal clear blue waters, the aromas of thyme and oregano wafting around, no crowds bustling for the best sunset views, wholesome Greek dishes, blue/white houses and churches and you get just a feel for the island of Serifos where the new sustainable boutique hotel Nōstos will welcome guests from July 2023 onwards.

So why Serifos? The island is known as one of the most unspoilt Greek islands and has been overlooked or may be overshadowed by its more famous neighbours of Mykonos and Santorini.

Holidaying on Serifos you experience an authentic experience where you can relax on the beach without loud music, multi colour cocktails, snacky dishes etc. Instead, visitors are surrounded by a tranquil atmosphere, enjoy amazing views from the amphitheatrically built Chora (the main town on the island), choose one of the many beautiful beaches, enjoy the local wines with dishes lovingly prepared by the taverna owners. It is a perfect choice for couples, families and groups of friends looking for an authentic Greek island holiday experience.

That’s the setting of the Nōstos Boutique Hotel, a 17-room property located within easy reach from one the island’s most beautiful beaches – Livadakia. What makes Nōstos Boutique Hotel stand out apart from the location, it’s a stylish hotel made sustainably. The building had a previous identity as a family run pension by the “Ancient One” as the grandfather of the present owner was known locally. Now, Harrys and Bianca converting it into a chic hotel fully sustainable and using local materials, local architects, designers giving it a local personality with an international flair.

Emphasis is given on lowering the environmental impact of the operations by implementing a two-fold strategy: a) lowering emissions as much as possible b) permanently removing the unavoidable CO2 emissions produced (net-zero is kind of a unicorn). This is achieved by investing in cleantech applications on the building (thermal building insulation, new AC systems throughout, heat pumps, solar panels on the roof with net-meeting system) + by partnering with Swiss-based Climeworks, to permanently capture, remove and safely store underground excess CO₂ from the air, so it can no longer contribute to climate change.

The architects C-O Lab, based in Athens and Serifos. The architects were chosen due to their knowledge about the island and using design elements that have a story to tell.

There are four different types of rooms: maxi, cosy double, cosy triple and mini. In total there are 15 rooms and two suites. The Maxi rooms have Jacuzzis to add a bubbly feeling to the stay.
