What to Pack for an African Safari!
Are you ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime? Perhaps you’ve finally decided to check off that bucket list trip to Africa and go on a thrilling safari! The anticipation is palpable, but now comes the daunting task of figuring out what to pack for such an extraordinary journey. Don’t worry, though, I’ve got you covered.
Hi! I’m Becca, one of the Africa specialists here at Fox! Read along as I walk you through some crucial items to pack for your African safari!
Layers
Although the afternoons can bring out the scorching sun, African mornings and evenings can be chilly. To be prepared for those early morning and evening game drives, please pack a sweatshirt and a jacket to keep yourself warm.
Sun Screen & Moisturizer
Speaking of the scorching sun, please ensure you are prepared with sunscreen and moisturizer for the harsh, dusty savannah conditions. There aren’t any Walgreens out there!
Portable Chargers
Please ensure that your phone, camera, and other electronics are always charged by packing a portable charger. There’s nothing worse than a perfect photo opportunity with a dead phone and camera!
Refillable Water Bottles
To eliminate plastic waste (which is even illegal in some African countries), it’s best to be prepared with a refillable water bottle.
Earth Toned Clothing
Leave the neon colors and flashy patterns at home when packing for a safari, as bright-colored clothing can shy the animals away. Stick to neutral and earth toned colored clothing!
Binoculars
Be prepared to see every animal you can, even if they’re far away, by packing a pair of good binoculars!
Patience
The most essential item to pack is your patience! Wild animals are unpredictable; only some games you take will be filled with many animals.
