Results from the annual global Destination Index, compiled by DMC, Pacific World have identified Abu Dhabi to be among the top cities in EMEA for incentives and conferences.
The research has also found UK, India and Saudi Arabia to be key source markets placing business in the region.
Milan and Paris were also identified as leading destinations for incentives and meetings held in the EMEA region. Improved transport links and investment in infrastructure resulting in the opening of a number of new hotels and venues were factors accountable for their rise in popularity.
Jestine Alfred destination manager of Pacific World UAE, said the Middle East’s business conferences and events industry “is now the world’s fastest growing”.
“There are a number of factors contributing to its increasing popularity including the more accessible routes offered by Emirates and Ethiad as well as the openings of a number of new hotels,” Alfred said.
“The city is also becoming more popular as a stop-over destination for two to three night stays for business travellers when travelling onwards using UAE carriers.”
