Serviced apartment operator Oakwood has signed a new contract to manage a convention centre in Bangkok.
The company, which already operates the Oakwood Residence Garden Towers Bangna, in east Bangkok, has now been granted the management contract for the Bangna Convention Centre, which is located next door.
The convention centre, which will reopen in the second quarter of 2013 following a major renovation, includes a 1,000-pax capacity pillar-free ballroom.
“This will be the first Oakwood property that will offer a banquet and meetings facility of an enormous size and we are proud that Oakwood Residence Garden Towers Bangna is leading the way for this innovation,” said the property’s General Manager, Trevor MacDonald.
“The Bangna Convention Centre has established a good reputation serving clients for over 20 years and as part of its expansion programme, the owners recognised the need for an international hospitality company to enhance its operations. It made perfect sense to choose Oakwood, which manages its serviced apartments in the same complex, to take over and utilise its expertise in the business.”
