The Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (YCVB) has released a new video aimed at driving more international events to the Japanese port city.
Based on the slogan, ‘Yokohama, Japan’s First Port of Call’, the video intends to demonstrate Yokohama’s history as Japan’s gateway to the world – or a “door for foreign cultures and products”, as the YCVB put it.
The video includes scenes from past conferences held in Yokohama and interviews with participants, with the intention of encouraging more international event organisers to select the city.
Yokohama has hosted several major international conferences and events in recent years, including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum meetings in 2010, the 10th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research in 2012, and the Human Proteome Organization 12th Annual World Congress in 2013.
And this year, it will play host to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the International Congress of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, and the World Congress of Sociology.
