Ireland Bucket-List Travel Experiences

Hi Fox Friends. My name is Sonjia Wenger, Vacation Travel Advisor out of the Appleton office.

My passion for travel has taken me all over the world, and I feel so lucky to be able to share my travel passion and experiences with you.

I recently returned from beautiful Ireland. If you are looking to venture across the pond for a vacation, Ireland will not disappoint! Ireland may not be your classic sun & fun destination. Don’t get me wrong – I love a sunny warm escape too; however, what Ireland lacks in tropical delight, it is rich with in character, charm, exploration, and history!

Here’s my top bucket-list Ireland experiences which are just some of the many wonders of this charming and historical destination.

The Castles

This 800-year-old Ashford Castle is truly remarkable! It is a grand structure with national significance. The former home of the Guinness family, it has hosted countless notables over the years and is an extraordinary estate to discover.

Built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland’s rulers, Blarney Castle has been attracting attention ever since. Over the last few hundred years, millions have flocked to Blarney – making it a world landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures.

Dromoland Castle is one of Ireland’s finest castle hotels. Dromoland offers guests the experience of living like a king, surrounded by luxury, beauty, and exceptional service. Dromoland Castle is one of the few estates tracing its history to native Gaelic Irish families of royal heritage.

The Natural Wonders

The Giant’s Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland.

At the center of the Wild Atlantic Way in Co Clare are the stunning Cliffs of Moher. Stretching out into the mist along the North Clare coastline, the Cliffs of Moher are jaw-droppingly beautiful.

According to legend, the kissing of the Blarney Stone gives the kisser a “gift of the gab.”  The stone was set into a tower of the castle in 1446. The castle is a popular tourist site in Ireland, attracting visitors from all over the world to kiss the stone and tour the castle and its gardens.

Ireland’s School of Falconry specialize in one-hour private Hawk Walks where YOU fly our Harris hawks. It’s a fascination that has enthralled people for 4,000 years.

The Breweries & Distilleries

A trip to Ireland is not complete without the experiencing the history, heart and soul of Ireland’s most iconic beer at the Guinness Brewery.

In 1780, John Jameson threw open the doors of Jameson Distillery. Over 240 years later, friends are welcomed to experience the World’s Leading Distillery Tour and premium whiskey tastings.

The Irish Culture

Converse with the locals, whether it be at pub or two or in a sourdough cooking class or a traditional Irish meal with a family. Don’t forget to break for high tea or a great fish n’ chips shop.

Visit the countless museums and historical sites including the Little Museum of Dublin, The Titanic Museum, the Irish Emigration Museum (EPIC) or Trinity College where you can visit the Long Room of the Old Library.
