ADMEI Welcomes Denise Malo, DMCP, as New Board President

WIMBERLEY, Texas (19 March 2024) As the Destination Management industry evolves and experiences significant growth, the Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) remains committed to ensuring strong leadership that represents the diversity of DMCs worldwide. In line with this commitment, ADMEI is pleased to announce the election of Denise Malo, DMCP, of BBC Events, a Global DMC Partner, as its 2024 president. Denise's election signifies ADMEI's dedication to elevating the DMC voice and standards within the industry.  Under her leadership, ADMEI anticipates continued growth, success, and enhanced collaboration among DMCs worldwide.

 

Denise Malo currently serves as Vice-President of Client Services for BBC Events, a Global DMC Partner in New Orleans, LA.  Denise has been a part of the BBC team for over 22 years, promoted to Director in 2004 and Vice-President in 2021. However, she brings to the table over 35 years in the hospitality industry. She is skilled in event production, program development, event design, and logistical implementation, and she thrives in educating the next generation of event producers to achieve their goals of excellence in the hospitality industry. While managing an entire team of DMC professionals at BBC Events, she continues to enhance the hospitality industry with team members who strive for excellence and pride in their craft.

 

Denise is also no stranger to ADMEI. She has been a member of the association since 2007 and attended her first ADMEI annual conference in 2008. At this time, she also earned her Destination Management Certified Professional (DMCP) credential, which is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated the highest knowledge of best practices in the Destination Management industry. She served on ADMEI’s Certification and Accreditation Board from 2015 to 2017 and as the ADMEI Conference Chair in 2021, and she has moderated countless webinars and breakout sessions, led DMCP study sessions, and served on the Programs and Education Committee. Most recently, she has served on ADMEI’s Board of Directors as Director of Conference, Vice President of Strategic Projects, and President-elect focusing on marketing and communication outreach. 

 

In Denise’s words, “This is not just my presidency; it belongs to all of us as a global association made up of the most rockstar, magic-making professionals on the planet. Together, we are ADMEI!”

 

As ADMEI welcomes Denise, it expresses appreciation and gratitude for its outgoing leaders of the ADMEI Board of Directors. Their unwavering dedication and outstanding service have led ADMEI to new heights. Each has played a crucial role in shaping the association, contributing their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to ensure ADMEI continues to lead the industry with its innovation and resources for all DMCs.

 

A special thank you is extended to ADMEI’s outgoing ADMEI President, Lonise Carey, MHA, DMCP with Island Destination Services, a DMC Network Affiliate, Nassau, Bahamas.  Lonise addressed members at ADMEI’s Annual Conference stating, “We are running a relay and today, I pass the baton to Denise Malo. Together, we will co-chair the Campus to Career initiative to ensure that there is continuation and longevity…This is farewell from the seat of the president, but this is not goodbye. I look forward to continuing to make an impact with you all, in our communities, and around the world.

 

As the essential global resource and platform for Destination Management companies, ADMEI plays a significant role in the hospitality industry. DMCs touch every fiber in the web of hospitality, and their reach continues to grow.  ADMEI continues to evolve and lead the charge in educating the next generation of DMC professionals. Denise will continue to foster this charge as her platform for “Learn, Grow, Teach.”  During her presidency,  the “Campus To Career” program will further develop opportunities for graduating college students and DMCs to grow professional relationships and opportunities. 

 

Denise shares, “As we continue to push ADMEI forward with great momentum, I feel it is our professional responsibility to the next generation of DMC professionals to nurture with knowledge, educate with accurate and relevant content, and create beneficial experiential opportunities.”
