Discover the Magical Must-See Destinations in Iceland

Hi, I’m Grace, one of Fox’s Iceland specialists! Iceland, a land of fire and ice, is a breathtaking destination that captivates travelers with its otherworldly landscapes and unique natural wonders. From cascading waterfalls to dramatic geysers and stunning glaciers, Iceland is a land of unparalleled beauty. Check out my list of “must-see’s” while you’re in this icy paradise!

The Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is a classic tourist route that encompasses three iconic sites: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall. Thingvellir’s geological significance, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, is a marvel to behold. Geysir Geothermal Area introduces you to the mesmerizing bursts of Strokkur, a geyser that shoots water high into the air. Gullfoss, the “Golden Falls,” is a magnificent two-tiered waterfall that will leave you spellbound.

Blue Lagoon

Nestled in a volcanic landscape, the Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa renowned for its milky-blue waters and therapeutic properties. Relax in the warm, mineral-rich waters as you take in the surrounding lava fields and inhale the pure Icelandic air.

Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss Waterfalls

Iceland is dotted with incredible waterfalls, and Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss are two of the most picturesque. Seljalandsfoss offers the rare opportunity to walk behind the cascading water curtain, while Skogafoss impresses with its sheer power and rainbow-adorned mist.

Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Located in the southeastern part of the country, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is a surreal spectacle of floating icebergs and serene waters. Marvel at the dance of blue ice against the backdrop of Vatnajokull Glacier, and don’t miss the chance to explore the nearby Diamond Beach, where ice chunks glisten like precious gems on the black sand. This is also where my husband proposed, and I got my own diamond!

Reykjavik

Iceland’s vibrant capital, Reykjavik, offers a charming blend of modernity and tradition. Stroll through the colorful streets, visit Hallgrimskirkja, a unique church that resembles volcanic basalt columns, and explore the city’s museums, galleries, and cozy cafes. Don’t forget to immerse yourself in the lively Icelandic culture and cuisine.
